Ages 12 and Over Format Maps Editorial Review
Vivir [Blu-ray] is a timeless masterpiece directed by Akira Kurosawa that explores the poignant themes of life, death, and human existence through the eyes of a bureaucrat diagnosed with cancer. The film beautifully encapsulates the struggles of bureaucracy in Japan, resonating universally with audiences who may relate to the parallels in their own lives. Reviews highlight its emotional depth, vivid portrayal of humanity, and the impressive remastering that enhances the viewing experience. While some may find the visual quality of its age a factor, the film’s storytelling and character exploration remain remarkably impactful, securing its status as one of the greatest films ever made.
