Answer: Push it down. Your dog will learn fast. -

Answer: We recommend replacing the filter every 2-3 months. However, if you feel the filter smells bad, you can change the filter immediately. -

Answer: You could try reaching out to the manufacturer. The bowls have solved our water play by dog's problem. I just ordered a second one for our RV. -

Answer: The filter needs to soak in water for 10 minutes before the first use. -
