Another customer mentioned that after rinsing, the substrate was easy to set up and did not float. They also commented on the substrate's ability to give a more natural look to the water. One customer reported that the substrate caused an increase in nitrates in their tank, leading to algae issues. They advised caution when using this substrate, especially in tanks with fish, and recommended assessing its impact on the tank before adding more. In terms of using the substrate for indoor plants, one customer suggested mixing it 50/50 with a good compost, as it contains nutrients beneficial for plants. Another customer mentioned watering their indoor plants with their old aquarium water, which yielded stunning results. Overall, the Tetra Active Aquarium Substrate has received mixed feedback. While some customers have found it to be beneficial for plant growth in aquariums and under gravel, others have had issues with floating granules and an increase in nitrates. Thorough rinsing before use is recommended.
