Broil King 958050 Offset Smoker The Broil King 958050 Offset Smoker is a sturdy and well-built smoker that offers good temperature control and can also be used as a charcoal grill. It has a good seal and is easy to clean up after use. The smoker is slightly smaller than other models, making it a perfect fit for smaller families. However, the main cook space is limited and the upper rack is better suited for warming rather than cooking. One issue with this smoker is that the metal used for the cheeks/endcaps is disappointingly thin. This causes the firebox to sag off the cook box, which is not ideal for the price paid. Another drawback is that maintaining temperatures can be difficult due to the small size of the smoker. Building a coal bed and keeping the temperature at a steady 225 degrees requires feeding the fire every 15-20 minutes. There are also some design flaws with this smoker. The handle extends over a large portion of the front shelf, limiting its use. The grease doesn't drain properly into the drain pan and ends up pooling in the bottom of the cook chamber. The thermometer is unreliable and fogs up. The corners of the smoker are made of thin metal, which is not durable and can be a cause for concern. Overall, the Broil King 958050 Offset Smoker is a decent smoker with good temperature control and a sturdy build. However, it falls short in terms of cook space, metal thickness, and design flaws.
