Communicative Disorders Editorial Review
The Handwriting Patch: Handwriting Curriculum and Practice Workbook has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from parents who have used the book to teach their young children how to write. The unique approach to teaching handwriting in a fun and engaging manner has been highly praised. Many parents have highlighted the enjoyable drawing aspect of the book, which has helped keep their children eager and motivated to practice handwriting. One parent noted that their 4-year-old daughter, who typically lost interest in structured handwriting activities, thoroughly enjoyed using the book. The naming of lines and strokes with fun metaphors such as "make an airplane" and "make grass" helped improve communication and made the learning experience more enjoyable for the child. The book's step-by-step teaching approach has been particularly appreciated by homeschooling parents, who have found it to be an effective tool for introducing handwriting to young children. Additionally, the book's engaging activities and colorful illustrations have received praise for capturing children's attention and making the learning process fun. Some minor suggestions for improvement included a wish for top binding for left-handed users, adding color to the pages for visual appeal, and adjustments to specific tracing elements. However, overall, the book has been highly recommended for its effectiveness in getting children interested in handwriting and for facilitating improvement in their writing skills.
