Electronic Arts Games 014633147346 Editorial Review

** "Need for Speed: Underground" for Game Boy Advance** "Need for Speed: Underground" emerges as a standout racing title for the Game Boy Advance, showcasing a commendable effort to bring the renowned franchise to a handheld format. While the visuals face scrutiny, especially in comparison to modern Consoles, it still manages to deliver impressive graphics for a GBA game, with fully rendered 3D environments that are clear and enjoyable upon closer inspection. The gameplay is engaging, with smooth mechanics that allow for seamless navigation through sharp turns and high-speed racing, attributes that set it apart from many other racing games on the platform. The game offers a wealth of customization options, enabling players to unlock and upgrade their vehicles with various parts, which in turn keeps the gameplay appealing and encourages long-term engagement through its career mode. Players can race in multiple event types—circuit, sprint, drag, and drift—each featuring distinctive tracks. However, some players feel that the track designs lack variety, which may lead to a sense of repetition over time. Despite these shortcomings, many users find the game entertaining and realize its potential in providing hours of fun, particularly for fans of street racing and car customization. The inclusion of pre-recorded music from the Console versions adds to the immersive experience, even if limited in number. Overall, while it might not surpass the franchise's Console iterations, "Need for Speed: Underground" delivers a solid and enjoyable racing experience on the Game Boy Advance that warrants a recommendation for those who appreciate racing games. **
