Walter Hill's Triggerman

**** "Walter Hill's Triggerman" presents itself as a graphic novel that intertwines the classic themes of revenge and crime gangsters within the vibrant yet moody illustrations characteristic of the genre. Readers have expressed their enthusiasm for the art style, noting that it captures the visually compelling essence of 1930s gangster narratives, providing a nostalgic touch that fans of the era will appreciate. The skillful storytelling also receives praise, allowing the story to stand on its own, even if it is part of a larger series. However, the reception is not universally positive. Some critics have pointed out a disconnect between the intriguing premise and the execution. While the combination of a Mafia hitman and a revenge narrative is enticing, certain reviews suggest that the story lacks the thrill one might expect from such a genre. There's a sense that the creative team may not have fully harnessed the compelling nature of Walter Hill's concepts, leading to a disappointing reading experience for some. Despite these critiques, the graphic novel does hit the mark for a specific audience, particularly those who enjoy the aesthetics of bande dessinée and similar historical gangster stories. It's a mixed bag, ultimately delivering striking visuals while raising questions about narrative depth and engagement. **
